This week in Literacy we have been exploring what life was like in Victorian schools by taking our school back in time!

First we imagined and discussed what our school might have looked and felt like in Victorian times …

We then worked collaboratively to build up our community through illustration…

… and to decide how the Victorian HJS might look …

Finally it was time to step into our Victorian school and take on the role of someone who might have been there …

We were able to express our characters’ thoughts and feelings through facial expression and freeze framing, so that we could empathise with children and teachers from this time.

This will help us to write diary entries from the perspective of a Victorian teacher or child, later in the week!
