Static snakes!!!!

Today Year 3 have been experimenting yet again with friction, this time the type that causes static!

We made some very interesting looking tissue paper snakes! The tissue paper was cut into the shape of a spiral so that the snake would look like it was ‘dancing’ to the rhythm of a brilliant snake charmer (balloon!)

We created static electricity by rubbing the balloon against different objects such as hair, jumpers and the carpet. This produces friction. When we held the balloon against the head of the ‘snake’ it lifted it up!!!

Have a look at our pictures…we all went home with messy hair! Including Miss Brewin!
