Our science topic in year 3 this term is teeth, and how to keep them healthy. Following up from our visit from the dental hygienist earlier on in the year, we have looked at different teeth types and their jobs, and also how to look after our teeth properly!
This week, we have started an investigation about which drinks are good, and which drinks are bad for our teeth. By placing an egg into different liquids, we can study the effects on the egg shell, as this is very similar to the coating on our teeth! We have tested tea, coffee, milk, orange juice and coke to see which is better to drink.
We made some interesting predictions but what do you think? I have a feeling the results will be very surprising…we will have to wait and see!
What an egg-traordinary egg-periment!! I don’t know about your class Miss Brewin, but Y3/4C are definitely thinking more carefully about how much sugary drinks we are drinking!! It has been egg-cellent!! Miss Cooper
Ooh Miss Cooper…I completely egg-ree!! Sorry I will stop now 🙂 However, we have all been completely shocked to find that the fruit juice has had the worst effects! As healthy as fruit is for you, it contains lots of natural sugars! Even more reason to brush your teeth twice a day!!
