This week in Numeracy, Mrs Graham’s group have been investigating different calculation strategies around the world, from Europe, Asia and Africa, inspired by Mr Williams’ and Mrs Kirby’s teaching in Zambia.
Our favourite by far was when we went Japanese – mastering the art of multiplication using lines! All of the children thoroughly engaged in the project, making lines using twigs, sticks and chalks on the yard, as well as with art straws in the classroom to multiply! They have also enjoyed sharing their new skills with their friends and families at home! Take a look at our gallery of learning outcomes, and see if you can work out how we can multiply, just by using lines!
Unbelievable learning well done everyone and Mrs Graham!
By the way, have a lovely holiday everyone xxx
