Year 4- Digestive System Investigation

Today in Science, Year 4 explored the digestive system in more detail. We conducted our very own digestive system experiment by making a stomach!

To do this, we needed the following pieces of equipment:
One freezer bag (the stomach)
One piece of bread (the food)
One glass of orange juice (the stomach acid)
A paper towel

To start with, we used our hands to break the bread into smaller pieces. Our hands acted as the very first stage of the digestive process, our mouths! We then dropped the pieces of bread into our stomachs and poured in a small glass of orange juice. After that, we used our hands to break down the pieces of bread, just as you would imagine in your actual stomach! The orange juice acted as the stomach acid and we were stunned with the results! Take a look below….
