In this weeks P4C lesson, Y4S found a 100% attendance certificate that had been screwed up on thrown onto the floor. After looking more closely at the certificate we realised that it was for another class, which prompted the discussion about how that class would feel knowing that there effort of coming to school everyday was treated with such disrespect.

As a class we talked about how even though on some of those days when some pupils in that class might have felt a little bit unwell, they still attended school as coming to school is important because if they don’t attend they cannot improve their learning and reach their targets. From this, we formed the question:

Why do we need to have 100% attendance?

All of the children agreed that it is important to have 100% attendance as every time they are off they are missing out on their education.
