Meet the Year 6 Team
Welcome to Year 6 at Herringthorpe Junior School!
Our three Year 6 classes are as follows:

Our Teachers for 2022/23 are Miss Snowden, Mr James and Miss Brierley, with support from Mrs Bailey, Mrs Lamb, Mr Jenkinson and Mrs Eveson.
Year 6 is a fun-filled and action-packed year where the pupils will make many amazing memories for them to take away as they progress onto secondary school.
In the final year of primary school, we both expect and encourage the children to be independent in their approach to school. This includes arriving at school on time with the correct books/equipment, completing all homework tasks set and putting the best into everything they do.
Please take the time to read through our Knowledge Organisers to familiarise yourself with what we will be covering in our topic this term. Our Yearly Overview will provide you with information on what we will be covering within each subject throughout the year.
We are incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and hard work that Year 6 pupils continuously show and we look forward to sharing their amazing outcomes through our ‘Learning Blog’ throughout the year.
Please get in touch via Class Dojo if you need any further information on Year 6.
SATs Meeting:
Recommended Reading: From picture books to graphic novels, fantasy to family fun, these must-read books have the power to hook both boys and girls. Some are cultural touchstones that every child should read whilst others open children’s minds to cultures beyond their own. Some are modern releases that have the timeless quality of classics – the kind that get handed down to siblings and passed around classrooms. Whether you have a reluctant reader or budding bookworm – check out these surefire, child-tested titles. Please use the link below to take you to ‘The School Reading List’ website where it recommends year group appropriate books for children to enjoy.
Happy Reading!

We are proud of our Learning Outcomes
In Year 6 our children go that extra mile to produce work of excellent quality. We are very proud to be able to show you our children’s hard work. We display these on our classroom walls for everybody to view. You too can take a closer look at our Year Groups work below. Enjoy!
