Y3SE had a great day exploring their steelmen trail around Sheffield. Using their Geo Doodle books they looked for answers to the clues which led them to Meadowhall, where they got to see the steelmen statues, linked to their class text Meet me by the Steelmen. Then to the Heart of steel and up to the trams. They then hopped on the tram to Sheffield cathedral where they were very fortunate to have their own guided tour by Chaplain Ann. They explored the cathedral and spotted items made of steel linking to their topic. After the cathedral they walked through Sheffield to find the Women of Steel and then to the Winter Gardens and millennium gallery. The children explored the stories from the pandemic exhibition and were able to contribute to one of the installations. Following this they walked to explore the Town Hall and then back to the tram ready to head home.
I think it is safe to say there were some very tired little legs by the time we got back to school!
Thank you Y3 for a wonderful day exploring Sheffield. You were the perfect Herringthorpe Learners and we were blown away by the number of compliments we received about how amazing you all are – we are very proud of you all.
