In Literacy this week we have been thinking about the features of poetry. As a class, we have looked at all the different types of poetry from shape poems, nonsense poems, acrostic poems and narrative poems. The book we choose to work on this week was ‘The Gruffalo’ a narrative poem. Breaking the text down the children were able to identify all of the rhyming couplets within the text and also hear a rhythm embedded throughout the book.
Following this learning the children were given a challenge to act out parts of the book using drama. This included the use of tone and body language.
